About Anusia
Anusia Gillespie spent over a decade as a lawyer and tech executive, most recently leading GTM and enterprise operations at vLex, the legal AI company that sold to Clio in late 2025 for $1B, the largest acquisition in legal tech history. She co-instructed at Harvard Law School Executive Education with Dr. Heidi K. Gardner and shared international stages with Richard Susskind OBE of Oxford.
While she was doing all of that, she was also writing a novel. She worked on it for five years, in the margins of a demanding career and raising a young son. The book came out in October 2025 as Soul Toll, a self-help fantasy that climbed Amazon's bestseller lists in its category.
Writing it changed how she understood herself. She had spent her whole career being good at logic, operations, and getting things across the finish line, and she hadn't realized until she finished the book that the skill that built the company was the same skill that built the book. She had been a creator the whole time. She just hadn't called it that.
What she sees now, everywhere she looks, is that this is true of almost every accomplished person. There is something inside them — a book, a business, a brand, a different kind of life — that they've been working on or thinking about for years, or just haven’t started. Most of them don't know how to take it seriously, and many don't have people in their lives who will.
Anusia founded Soul Toll in January 2026 to be the place that takes it seriously. Soul Toll is a creator's bottega and launchpad. If the work is still inside you, Soul Toll helps draw it out and figure out what to do with it. If it's already out and you need help launching it, Soul Toll does that too. Whether what comes out becomes a side project, a passion, a business, or a whole new life is up to you.
The platform runs the Soul Toll Podcast, the foundational novel, and four cohort programs: Soul Toll Explore, Soul Toll Studio, Soul Toll Build, and Soul Toll Launch.
Residing north of Boston, she shares her home with her husband, their young son, and old dog.
Anusia holds a Juris Doctor and MBA from Boston College — the Law School and Carroll School of Management, respectively — and a BSM from Tulane University.
